So before I head off to bed, I wanted to share my thoughts on a musical I watched this afternoon;
Sweet Charity 1965
It is directed by the legendary Bob Fosse (one of my favourite choreographers) and is based on Federico Fellini’s film & script ‘Le notte di Cabiria’ (a film I quite like).
I prefer Giulietta Masina over Shirley Maclaine because Maclaine is too awkward for my liking.
One of the things I re-noticed was how much of an influence Fosse’s work has on Beyonce;
many of her dance moves (in her music videos; Single Ladies, Sweet Dreams & Get me Bodied) are suggested in this musical. She also bases her whole video clip on the “Aloof” and “Heavy weight” scene in Sweet Charity.
